Department of Soil and Water Conservation Engineering

The department was established in 1984and offers courses in different areas such as soil and water conservation measures and structures, watershed management, non-point sources of pollution etc. The department has well trained faculty and well equipped laboratories like, Soil & Water Conservation Engineering Lab, Water shed Hydrology and Management Lab, Computer Lab, and Hydrological Simulation & Sedimentation Lab. Besides participating in B.Tech Agril. Engg. program, the department also offers M.Tech. and Ph.d degree programmes. The department also undertakes/participates in research and extension programs in jurisdiction of university.

The major emphasis in research is in the areas of hydrologic and sediment flow analysis of agricultural, forest & hilly watersheds and river valley projects; design of gully control, energy dissipating and other soil and water conservation structures; water harvesting and recycling; waste land management; nutrient losses and water quality standards; envioronmental pollution etc.
