Investigations
GBPUATSD officers investigate complaints filed by community members and pursue investigations to their most reasonable conclusion. Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division may conduct follow-up investigations, with support when necessary from a number of law enforcement partners, local Police, local intelligence unit, and victim-witness programs. The interest of the victim is always the primary concern. The GBPUATSD recognizes the importance of confidentiality and of protecting the identity of the victim in the course of an investigation. In criminal matters, the victim's preferences greatly influence the way in which a case is processed. The case is referred to criminal court through FIR lodged with the local thana.
The University has a number of alternatives at its disposal to adjudicate inappropriate behavior, whether or not it is of a criminal nature. In addition to pursuing cases through the courts, the University uses an internal judicial structure to decide on specific issues unique to University life. Furthermore, cooperation between the University and other law enforcement agencies can result in a student's receiving disciplinary action for off-campus behavior.
