I think the computer labs in our department are of no use unless and until they provides us the 24 hr. lab facility with a broadband connection....
Everone knows the condition of the labs and nobody uses it...
in other colleges the students practice and study alll night in their labs...

however it is not feasible in our college but atleast teachers should atleast give a thought to it.

i cant say about the department.
but why not you come up with some suggestions how we can do better use of them?
may be your contributed idea change our life (an idea can change your life ;-) ).
however we are thinking about something like repositories to be made in the department servers so that you need not to download your favorite software from the net.
so do some mind storming and bring some ideas. we are waiting for that. may be tomorrow you are working on the implementation of the same idea as well. food for your placement also.

Be generous man!..How much time do you spend now in your lab? and how much you're going to spend when it's available 24hrs? Even if it's available 24hrs you still need time to go for a piss!! --)
I am a 1995 ME batch passout. During our time we haven't even put our fingers on keyboard and passed out people from the same batch has filed and are filing a number of patents in the current fields. Guys from our batch have worked seldom on 8086 (if got a chance). So stop cursing and learn from what you've around you, bcz if you don't you'll lag behind others.

you should ask the department to provide access to the servers over the LAN from hostel itself. What my knowledge is that they can actually link all the computers in the hostel to the department, but they dont want to provide internet access. This way they wont be giving you internet and you will have access to ur labs.

that will be gr8 if hostel lan is connected to department server, specially we can create a center repository system and access everything from there we have shared.
