I have heard that GRE is very costly for people like us to afford, can anyone throw some light on the monetary requirements for this test..

Yes GRE is pretty costlty even to apply for.
here is the brakdown
tests:
15K (GRE & TOEFL inclusive)
applying to each univ. will hv the avg. expenditure of around 8K and atlst 5K.
u genertally need to apply for 10 univ.
the funding scene in top univ. is getting quite difficult (except AG students) if you are only going for Master's but PhD will be funded from staart.

so all in all applying to univ. will hv the expenditure of around 1Lakh (including tests, score reports, admission fees of univ. etc).

parixit sir.....can u emphasize more on the scholl scene ....lyk wats d score appropriate like in I.T major n otherwise upto wat limit can we afford on personl loan etc.

The schol scene is bad for MS in top universities but u can get schol in lower ranked univ. Top univ. are now providing aid at all cost to PhD students. the personal loan can be from 15-20L.

the score should be 1200+ to get the admit invarying univ.but try doing it 1400+.

There is no IT major here. so you need to look up in the field of computer science

@rohit: what you are looking for is called MS-MIS or MS-IS in American Univs...chk it out on edulix.Indiana Univ's Kelley School is one of the best for MIS
