The B.Tech. Computer engineering programme came into existence in the erstwhile departments of Electrical Engineering in 1984. Later, the computer engineering department was carved out of the Electrical Engineering department in 1993.The programme was designed on the basis of recommendations of various international bodies and the national needs. The programme is periodically updated to cope with the ever-changing computer technology and culture. The courses are backed up by laboratory sessions.The computer laboratory complex in the department is one of the very good ones in the country. In 2001-2002 the department introduced a new programme of B.Tech (Information Technology).
