NOSTALGIA

Lauta do mere College Ke Din

Yeh Degree bhi lelo, Yeh Naukri bhi lelo,
Bhale mujhse lelo woh US ka Visa,
Magar mujhko lauta do college ka canteen,
Woh TeeKha Samosaa, Woh thanda saaa paani,
Woh Teekha Samosa, Woh thanda saaa paani…..

Woh College ki sabse - purani nishaanee,
Woh chai vaalaa jisko - saare kehte the... jaani,
Woh jaani ke hathon - ki 'cutting' chai meethi,
Woh chup-kese journal - mein jo bheji thi chitthi,
Woh padhte hi chitthi - tha uska bhadakna,
Woh chehre ki laali, woh aankhon kaa gussaa ...

Woh teekha samosa, woh thanda saaa paani………..

Kadi dhoop mein - apni room se nikalnaa,
Woh project ki Khatir - tha dar dar bhataknaa ,
Woh lecture mein doston - ki proxy lagaanaa,
Woh sir ko chidana, aeroplane udaanaa,
Woh submission ki raton - ko jagna jagaanaa,
Woh vivas ke kisse, woh pracs ki kahani....
Woh teekha samosa, woh thanda saaa paani……….

Woh dena Bimaari - ka har time bahana,
Woh doosron ka assignment - ko apnaa banana,
Woh seminar ke din - pairon ka chat-patanaa,
Woh workshop mein din bhar - pasinaa bahanaa,
Woh slogans banana - aur Gym me rakhadna,
Phir Exam ke din ko – tha bechain hona,
Woh teekha samosa, woh thanda saaa paani……..

College ki thi - woh lambi si raatein,
Woh doston se tapre pe - pyaari si Baatein;
Woh gathering ke din ka – jo ladnaa Jhagadnaa;
Woh kudiyon ka yuhin - hamesha akadnaa;
Bhulaaye nahin bhool sakta hai koi -------
Woh college, woh baatein, woh guzara jamana…
Woh teekha samosa, Woh thanda saaa paani…….
Woh teekha samosa, Woh thanda saaa paani……

Ye College Ke Din ...

Kuchh Baaten Bhooli Huyi
Kuchh Pal Beete Huye
Har Galti Ka Ek Naya Bahana
Aur Phir Sabki Nazar Me Aana
Exam Ki Poori Raat Jagna
Phir Bhi Question Dekh Kar Sar Khujlana
Mauka Mile To Class Bunk Karna
Phir Dosto Ke Sath Movie Dhekhne Jana
Uski Ek Jhalak Dekhne Roj Class Jana
Aur Dekhte Dekhte Attendance Bhool Jana
Har Pal Ek Naya Sapna
Aaj To Tute Phir Bhi Hai Apna
Ye College Ke Din
In Lamho Me Jindagi Ji Bhar Ke Jee Lo

I remember when I joined Pantnagar from a small town of eastern UP i.e. Azamgarh in 1977 and sleeping tired alone on cot in my room seeing the roof where fan was slowly rotating, on first day. I was witness to "Firing Incident" near Nehru Bhawan, which was our first year hostel, by Police to innocent formers and after that spread terror/rumors and unity by all the students of guarding the campus and ourselves in those trying hours/days. This brought silver lining of student co-operation and caring for each other, which remains till today. The in-campus binding and a family relationship is real teaching of Pantnagar, which is unique in a way and rarely found in other institution. The MASTI of evening campus ‘Market' roaming and the triangular non-sitting shape of small 'Pulia' (Is it still available???) in front of Sarojini Bhawan, is really sweet memories. The year long awaitments of Engg Week Celebration and a competition in getting the Invitation Card of Dinner of Engg Week concluding day celebration , specially in Home Science Girl students, are really something to watch. I also remember coming back from Admn Block in Mar82 with PDC( Provisional Degree Certificate) in my hand and our Dakia( Postman) rushing on the way towards me with a Telegram of confirmation of Job from one organization and seeing the his joyous face as he has got the job in place of me. That was belongingness.Oh Pantnagar, I really miss you lot.

Dear Pantnagarians,

Though I'm bit late, but still I would like to share my wonderful experience with all of you. Though I've not been writing mails but I've been continuously reading Daak.
On 17th of March I could visit Pantnagar after 13 long years. Though you can see huge Infrastructural changes taking place between Rampur & Pantnagar, but just upon entering I could smell same feeling, same lovely environment which we enjoyed then. All the streets, colleges, hostels reminded me of our good old days. Primafacie I could not see much change there, but thanks to Prabhat (our great PKSD) who is Associate Proffessor there, me & my family could see whole of ColTech (Much to delight of my kids and my wife). Believe me ColTech is really getting its much deserved treatment now as infrastructure is really getting better. Kudos to people responsible for it.
I could meet 3 of our Professors Prof Mehta, Prof Hansraj & Prof Virendra Kumar. It was really touching when Hansraj Sir could recognize me even after 13 long years of no contact. My kids were overjoiced to see Papa's "School" and incidently that day Coltech functions were happening.
