(National
Service Scheme)
The
society is where we take our first breath, where we grow up to be a
complete human being. It is our duty to contribute
our bit to our society, our nation. Such an opportunity is
provided by the College of Technology, Pantnagar by
organizing NSS camp for the 3rd year students.
Under this program, each branch of engineering students is assigned
a particular task in the locality and also works to spread awareness
about delicate issues.
Various
programs were organized by various branches of engineering. Mechanical
and Production Engineering organized a cultural
event showcasing the vibrant culture and traditions of Uttranchal,
comprising of folk songs and folk dances performed by the students of
the various branches of engineering of college of technology. Computer
Engineering and Information Technology engineering students
organized a debate on AIDS for the students to spread
awareness about this burning issue. It helped a lot in broadening the
outlook of students and provided them with useful information.
The
third year students stayed back in the month of December. Each branch
was given a locality in pantnagar to work for spreading the awareness
and betterment of that area, under which Computer and IT Engineering
were allotted Masjid colony, Production and
Mechanical Engineering were given Beni Gaon,
Electrical and Electronics and Communication Engineering were
allotted Indira Colony and Agricultural and
Civil Engineering were given Pantnagar. The
students worked hard to collect donations of clothes and basic amenities
for the deprived section of the society. The enthusiasm of students
was commendable and yielded great results.
The
students of Civil Engineering prepared a plan of NCT which
is displayed at the very entrance of NCT. The students of Agricultural
and Mechanical Engineering flooded the campus with posters encouraging
masses to save water and electricity. Health camps were organized
in each of the villages visited by Electrical and Electronics and Communication
engineering students to provide the basic information about the health
care and medication. Also sign posts of the map of Ta Colony
were posted in the Colony by the students of Computer and IT Engineering.
Thus the whole program enriched the Samaritan side of the students and
helped them to contribute their bit towards society and nation.
