29th & 30th JANUARY 05 marked a glorious
chapter in the golden history of Pantnagar as the first ever
ALUMNI MEET was held on this day. The event was a grand success
and witnessed the presence of about 100 Alumni from India and
abroad.
The event was inaugurated by Honorable Minister for Technical
education and Transport Mr. Hira Singh Bisht. Various alumni’s
from all walks of life came up later on the stage of Gandhi
auditorium to relive their memories. The distinguished Alumni
placed in various reputed firms both in India and abroad relived
their moments from the past and rifted into a wave of Nostalgia.
A lunch was organized for all the students with the alumni’s,
thereby giving quality time to the juniors with their seniors.
For the first time the whole of college of technology was having
lunch together. It further enhanced the feeling of belongingness
in the minds of one and all.
The piece de resistance was UTSAV, the cultural program which
was greatly appreciated by the Alumni’s as well as the students
of the College Of Technology (as was evident by the loud waves
of applause). Later a grand dinner was organized which was
enjoyed by all. The students had a great time enjoying
antakshari around the camp fire.
Later the Alumni also had a tete-a-tete with the students where
discussions were held from topics ranging from scope of
individual branches, technical career options and ways to tackle
the cut throat competition prevalent nowadays. It was amazing
listening to their struggle with life. Some could even be
compared to movie stories (only these were true!!)
During the two day stay in pantnagar the alumni’s relived their
days spent here. Be it the choti market or the famous TIC. Some
even went to their hostel rooms and shared stories with the
students living today in those rooms about experiences with past
wardens, mess workers or even ghosts.
Despite the obstacles SAMANVAY was an exorbitant success and
turned to be an epoch in the history of Pantnagar. It provided a
platform for student and Alumni interaction and keeping alive
the Pantnagar tradition of the special Senior- Junior
relationship.
SAMANVAY will
surely embark on an odyssey to broader horizons and many such
events to look forward to……….
