It was on the auspicious day of March 14, 2005 that the 22nd convocation ceremony of the university was held on the convocation grounds in the presence of the eminent Noble laureate Dr. Norman E.Borlaug as the chief guest.  Honourable Shri Sudarshan Agarwal, the governor of Uttaranchal and the Chancellor of the university, presided over the ceremony, while Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari, hon’ble chief minister of uttaranchal, was the guest of honor.

                        The ceremony began with renditions of the national anthem and the university song followed by the presentation of the annual report by the vice chancellor Dr. P.L. Gautam through which he informed all present of the numerous achievements of the university in the present year .The vice chancellor then exhorted the degree recipients to fight the good fight and make their alma-mater proud. Honorary degrees of Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) were thereafter conferred upon Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Justice Jagdish Chandra Verma, Dr. Mangala Rai, Shri Narayan Dutt Tiwari and Dr. R.A. Mashelkar in recognition of outstanding contributions in their respective fields. Conferment of degrees and medals to the students by the Hon’ble Chancellor then ensued after which they received benediction by the Hon’ble Guest of Honor. The assembly was then addressed by the Hon’ble Chancellor after which the chief guest delivered his motivational convocation address.

                           The proceedings were brought to an end by the vote of thanks by the Registrar, following which the Chancellor declared the convocation closed.
