INTERVIEWING Mr. ROSHAN LAL CHABRA
Q. How do you see your college after 42 years ?
A. I definitely find a huge development in the college. The college has set up its own standards in the country today. There had been improvisation in the departments , laboratories, classrooms and size had grown a lot. I find the equipments available with the students today are far more sophisticated and improved than we had.
Q. How was your experience of meeting your batchmates after such a long time ?
A. I was glad about when I was turning to Pantnagar but my heart was filled with happiness when I saw my friends. Even I was not able to make some of colleagues, they have changed a lot in looks. But it was really splendorous to meet after such a long time.
Q.What changes would you like to see in the college ?
A. One thing that I would like to change about the whole system is the number of reserved seats. This is the main reason that is holding our country aback. I believe that education must be made free and only deserving and capable students should be given admissions.
Q. How do you compare our college with rest of the world ?
A. World is changing at fast pace and the college need to come up and meet the requirements of this neoteric competitive world. I could see that the college is putting up efforts but I think they need to put more emphasis on verbal communications and technological advancements.
Q. What steps can be taken to improvise the standard of the college ?
A. I think students are striving well to meet the requirements of the status quo but I could look forward for huge potential. I believe that fundamentals are essential and must be included but I think the recent developments and technologies must be included.
Q. An incident from your past that you would like to commemorate with us ?
A. When I was here at Pantnagar in first year then Mr. Stevenson(the then V.C.) announced about the Vice-chancellors scholarship and the student with highest G.P.A were to get that scholarship. I challenged Mr. Stevenson that you have to give me this scholarship for the next three years, and was amazed to see that how much over confident one could be. But I marked my words and stood for it by taking the scholarship for the next three consecutive years.
Q. Message to the students ?
A. I look you people as my own children and I wish you people succeed in life. And for this I would like to advise you to lay more emphasis on Verbal Communication. The leaders who lead the world have to have impressive communications to lead others, to persuade others, to influence others. I guess you can start a branch of TOAST MASTER http://www.toastmasters.org at this place conducting classes on weekends.
Q. What message would you like to give to your colleagues and alumni of our college ?
A. I guess all my colleagues have earned success in different dimensions of life and I wish them all the very best for the rest of their life and look forward for some projects with them for upliftment of the college.
