SPARDHA

Today, the playground is considered to be the most apt milieu for the proper unfolding of a person’s latent capacities and talents. Moreover, sports have always been the best medium of channelising one’s energies. So this year College of Technology, Pantnagar came up with its first National level sports fest-‘SPARDHA’ aimed at providing the opportunity to sportspersons to showcase their talents. Not only this, the fest evokes a lot of passion and fervor among the students, with each contingent trying to outdo the other and emerge victorious.

From 17 to 19 October, 2008, the Stevenson Stadium, venue for the fest, was all soaked in the spirit of ‘SPARDHA’. The meet was inaugurated by our Vice-Chancellor Dr.B.S.Bisht. The inauguration was given a flying start by a football match between the teams of Pantnagar and Dwarahat. Teams from various colleges participated with full exuberance. All the matches were evenly poised with no team giving any leeway to the other and the audience was on the tenterhooks.

 

Spardha as the word suggests was a national level sports competition among the youth to showcase their brilliance in various sports. The various sports organised were :

 

1) Badminton

2) Table-Tennis

3) Carrom

4) Basketball

5) Volleyball

6) Chess

7) Athletics
8)Carrom

9)Power Lifting

The organizers deserve to be congratulated for managing the events successfully. Its all because of their persistence and perseverance that the event turned out to be a great accomplishment. Laudable is the job of the team heads and volunteers who took time off attending the events to keep a tab on the crowd.Hats off to the fest managers who ensured that the legacy of flawless organization is not broken.

 

On the whole, ‘SPARDHA’ provided a platform for the talented to lock horns and be rewarded appropriately on proving their mettle.
