WORKSHOP ON APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY FOR HILLS - 2008

None is oblivious of the tranquility and pulchritude prevailing in the hills, but the hills are not able to keep pace with the worldwide advancement in technology. The need of the time is to revive  the technological  development scopes in the hilly terrain. Keeping this objective in mind a national workshop on Appropriate Technologies for HILLS was held in the college premises from 16-18 October 2008 under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme(TEQIP). The various sessions held under this workshop were: Technical session 1 held on 16 October, 2008 in which techniques for hill machinery and mechanization, water harvesting and recycling and environmental protection were conferred. On 17 October 2008 the other four technical sessions were held which gave a glimpse of knowledgeable facts on Cottage industries, alternate sources of energy, fisheries and livestock and modern information and communication technology.


About hundred papers from all over India were presented related to various areas for the technical advancements in the hilly areas. After these technical discussions a luscious dinner was organized. This workshop proved to be a technical asset in unfolding the newer domains for the betterment of the technology in hilly terrains.
