In that eventuality he/she will be exempted from offering such courses prescribed for the new branch, which he/she passed while studying the courses for the earlier branch.
Registration
The student is required to get himself/herself registered in each semester. Registration takes place on the first day of each semester.
Advisory System
The university ensures individual attention to each and every student through its advisory system. The advisory system is supplemented by a system of students counselors. For each group of 15 to 20 students a teacher is appointed as an advisor. The advisor guides, supervises and monitors the academic performance of his advisees besides helping them in their personal problems. He also maintains a close contact with parents/guardians of the students.
Educational Pattern
The University follows a Semester System. Each academic year comprises of 2 semesters having 200 net instructional days, which is the highest in the country. In each Semester a student has to study 5-7 courses. Depending upon the quantum of contents of a course a credit weight (2,3 or 4 credits) is assigned to it. Completion of a degree program requires successful study of courses as approved by the Academic Council for the program in question. Course contents of all subjects are periodically updated and new courses are occasionally added to the degree requirement, to cope up with the challenges of upcoming technology. The course structure in each B.Tech degree program has a package of compulsory courses from Basic Science and Humanities group, Engineering Science group and Professional group. In addition there are plenty of advanced elective courses from which the students can choose a few. Normally a student is expected to complete the B.Tech. degree program in 8 semesters.
